Your business name

Your business name appears at the top of every page, in the browser tab and in search results. It is the first thing a visitor reads, and often the only thing they will remember.

The “Business name” field sits at the very top of the editor, in the “Identity” group. It feeds the site header, the page title and the name shown when someone shares your address on WhatsApp or Facebook.

It is also the first of the seven completeness criteria: while it is empty, your site cannot be published.

How to fill it in

  1. Open the editor

From your dashboard, click “Edit my site”. The “Identity” group is open straight away.

  2. Write the name your clients use

The one they say on the phone, not the full registered company name.

  3. Check the preview

The right-hand panel updates as you type. Look at how the name fits in the header.

Your changes are saved on their own: “Saving…” then “Changes saved” appears at the top of the editor. There is no button to press.

Choosing a good name

  • Short: two or three words are remembered, six are not.
  • Sayable: if a client has to spell it out on the phone, it is too complicated.
  • No legal form: “Ltd”, “SARL” or “SPRL” help no client find you.
  • Stable: changing it later changes the header on every page.

Avoid An all-caps name and a phone number stuck to the name are the two most common mistakes. “ELEC CONFORT SARL 0810000000” reads badly everywhere, and worst of all on a phone.

Your business name is separate from your site address. You can perfectly well be called “Élec Confort” and have the address “elec-confort-kinshasa”.

Example Elec Confort — rather than "ELEC CONFORT SARL 0810000000".

Worth remembering

  • Keep it short and easy to read.
  • Do not put a phone number in the name.
  • Use the same name on your site, on WhatsApp and on your social pages.
  • Add a sharp logo. If you do not have one yet, a good photo of your work can stand in for now.

Avoid A name in all capitals, or full of abbreviations, is hard to remember.
