One question comes before all the others, so let us answer it straight away: you have NO DNS records to create, no settings to enter, no account to open anywhere else. Professionnalisable buys the name, configures DNS, prepares the server and issues the security certificate. Your only action was the payment.
What we do, in order
-
We buy the name
From the registrar, in your name.
-
We point the domain
DNS records are directed to our servers. Their propagation across the internet can take up to 48 hours — that delay is nobody’s to control.
-
We prepare the server
The domain gets its configuration on our infrastructure.
-
We issue the certificate
Your domain and its “www” variant move to HTTPS.
-
We check, then we activate
Three checks must pass before activation. They are detailed below.
The states your screen shows
The “Domain” screen shows the technical state of your order. The words are those of our tracking tool:
- “Awaiting payment” — the invoice is unpaid, nothing has been bought.
- “requested” — paid, the order is in our purchasing queue.
- “checking” — we are verifying the name’s real availability.
- “approved” — the name is confirmed as purchasable.
- “purchased” — the name is bought, in your name.
- “configured” — DNS and server are in place, the certificate is under way.
- “active” — everything is verified: your domain serves your site.
- “expired” — the annual due date passed without renewal.
- “rejected” — the order could not go through; our team contacts you.
The DNS and SSL columns follow the same movement: “pending” until the step is done, then “configured” and “active”.
Why we do not activate as soon as the domain answers
Three checks must pass before a domain becomes your main address: that it points to our servers and nowhere else, that it answers over HTTPS with a valid certificate, and that it serves YOUR site and not another client’s. While any of the three fails, activation is refused.
That caution has a very concrete reason: an address activated too early ends up on your cards, in your QR code and in your shares — showing nothing.
How long it takes
There is no guaranteed delay, and we would rather say so than promise one. The purchase depends on the registrar, DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours, and the certificate comes after. Count in days, not minutes.
Avoid Throughout this period your site stays online at its Professionnalisable address. Nothing is interrupted, and your visitors see no difference.
If your order sits at the same state for several days without moving, write to the Support Centre with the name requested and the state shown. That is exactly the kind of situation a message settles within hours.
